Day 13 Saturday

An exciting trip today, to the Reservoir, in the car.  Poppy is very good in the car, obviously she has to be lifted in and out (although she would try to get out on her own if she could).

The Reservoir is only about 5 minutes drive, but I thought it would give Poppy a change of scene and a chance to meet some other dogs - that's a first - no dogs here!  We walked about 20 metres along the walkway, and then I carried her over the "parapet wall" and she watched the water, lap noisily around the shoreline.  Poppy was not too sure about this!

She then decided that she could be an adventurer and climbed her way back up the shallow steps to the top wall, and then promptly turned around to climb down again.  She does look very bright and able this morning - just not very fast at anything.

I measured her height today, she is about 43cms to the top of her shoulder (Abbie in comparison as a fully grown labrador is 53cms).  We will try weighing her again this weekend as well, although we have no worries about this side of things as she eats really well now.  1.5 cups of Puppy food in the morning, a full cup at lunch and same at tea.  Plus a few titbits for rewards (we normally use kitten food - a good tip offered to us years ago by Sheila, as it is very small and smells nice).  We use 35mm film cases to keep our titbits in, again this means that the idea of a titbit is very easy for the dog to catch on to, and the pot can also be rattled to attract attention.

Poppy seemed to really enjoy the change of scene, although seems pretty tired now, so we may have a quiet rest of the day.
