New boots! I felt that the existing boots were a bit too big, and also a bit bulky where I fasten the velcro, so we have made new boots, which also incorporate a waterproof inner sole. I have tried them on Poppy and they looked good, but yet to take her for a walk in them.
Poppy has just had a really good "rough house" with Abbie, it is so nice to see her playing like a normal puppy - eating Abbie's ears, eyes or indeed anything that gets in the way! Poppy is also absolutely determined to steal slippers at the moment. B left her slippers under the table last evening, and today they were found and well chewed! Dad has also had a five minute period with his slippers disappearing all the time. A treat was used to tempt her to leave and drop the slippers, but somehow I think this clever puppy will actually work out that this encourages stealing, rather than means stop stealing!
It was wet out this morning, and Poppy still managed to walk all the way to the grass (but we didn't go on, to prevent her getting too wet) and back again. We even managed a little play with the tennis ball on the way home, although this did involve her tripping over her own lead!
Tonight we have been "up the yard" to the field where I keep my pony, and Poppy has been reunited with the lovely Vet who literally gave her a stay of execution. It was wonderful to have her say that she could not believe how good Poppy was looking - she was really pleased with her. She commented that her neck was far less pronounced than when she last saw her, looking more like a normal labrador. Poppy was on fine form, walking half way across the field and back, playing tennis ball, and exploring the muck heap! She is a tired puppy now, but it was certainly worth it.
